Meet The New Blog: Mostly Media
So here is Mostly Media, where I will no doubt be spending most of my spare time, as if there is such a thing as spare time. Another urban myth!
The Spacey Gracey Review will always be my first big blog-love. No question about that. But I know where my blogospheric strengths, and weaknesses, lie now so I'm going to pursue a more, uh, universal, professional approach to a blog this go-'round. And I want to reach out and pull in other fantastic contributors for Mostly Media, as I get the funny feeling I'm not the only media junkie roaming the planet.
The future is clearly within the broadband video realm, and if you're into news and politics and video and mashing them all up together online, then these are very heady times. I feel like a teenager again whenever I start rolling a frame of videotape - I just have no idea where it's all going to end up. A lot's going to go right to the trash heap of oblivion of course, but there are seemingly endless possibilities with video right now, that even the trash cans are being explored and mined and fretted over! Who knows, maybe even a long subverted, supressed, ignored artistic bent will come over me, and I'll just chuck it all and "do art." Weirder things have happened I suppose. Although I like being a capitalist pig way too much to really ever go with a whole lot of "chucking it all" attitude.
Who knows, even TrueGritz could get a dose of fresh air in such a brave new world of video production. All I really know right now is that truly anything really is possible.
See you on The Twitter. Blog on.

Pauline and Sas To Parade This Weekend
Monday, April 02, 2007
Announcements
1.) Social Media Club Atlanta is Wednesday April 4 at 6:30pm at Earthlink. Details here. RSVP as soon as you can.
2.) Slim Chance and the Convicts are playing Smith's Olde Bar this Wednesday April 4, opening for Wayne "the Train" Hancock. It will be an evening of real roots oriented country music. Showtime is 9PM Sharp, and the cover is $12 adv. & $15 at the door. Welcome to the Redneck Underground. (Slim also was our first ever TG musical guest. What a legend!)
2.) Deja Blue, the TrueGritz kinda sorta house band, will be playing 3X this spring! Now where else can you hear "(Blaming It All On The) Lights of Broadway" as a bluegrass, kickass tune? Only with Deja Blue. According to Mark, their upcoming shows are:
- Saturday, April 7th, @ 8:25 pm: we'll be performing a set for the WRFG "Georgia Grown" Bluegrass festival ( A.K.A., Peach Blossom Festival) at the State Farmer's Market, Exhibition Hall. Bands will be playing from 11:00 am to 10:00 PM. Definitely a slice of life. We'd love to see you there.
- Thursday, April 19th, @ 9:00-ish, we'll be headlining at the Red Light Cafe. Come early, bring your acoustic instrument, and jam before the show. (NOTE: Pauline Ashley-Wilkes threatening to sing backup vocals at this pre-gig event.)
- Saturday, May 12th @ 8:00 PM, we are performing at the Red Top Mountain State Park. Great camping opportunity!
3.) Tania keeps (monogamous, romantic) hope alive here.
4.) James Marlow kicks-off his campaign for Georgia's 10th Congressional tomorrow, Tuesday April 3. Disclosure: I'm going to be supporting this campaign, so if you don't like hearing about it, too bad, leave a comment.
5.) Caroline Monroe has her biggest Athens, GA gig to date, coming up April 26 at 8 p.m. at The Melting Point. Support the South's most gorgeous country music new voice.
6.) Save the date for the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper annual River Revival party on Thursday, May 10th at Park Tavern at Piedmont Park. This is an awesome party with dancin' and Dames A'Flame and food and booze and bluegrass, and also a fundraiser to help keep Georgia's rivers, and our drinking water here in Atlanta, clean. I'm on the host committee again too, so if you buy tickets online, please list me as your host committee member.
Thanks!

Caroline's Playing Tonight!

Oh yeah... Look for a new TG episode next week. 'Bout time those two gals got up off their fat asses, stopped watching Oprah and eating bon-bons all day long, and started cookin' some darn video for the men folk 'round here...

Sas Performs
Here's my TrueGritz sidekick, out there in public without her wig. No burka either. Is that allowed? Beats me, but she's funny and brave and gets 'em laughing. Enjoy!

Welcome All New Readers, I Gotta Run
Blogging today will be very lite as it's Value Village Once-A-Month-Wednesday, when all clothing is half-price. So naturally enough, I gotta go shop. If you don't get there early enough, the Hispanic ladies will have taken all the carts. Those women are some very wily shoppers.
My two-cents: never trust a fashionista who doesn't incorporate thrifting into her life. She wouldn't be real. In the meantime, be sure to browse an array of delightful topics to your right. Something for everyone! Or take a broadband bounce on over to my vlog, TrueGritz.
Quick tech note, the DVD kiosk rental throw down moves to ATLanta Wal-Marts.
A sad note... Atlanta fireman Steve Solomon has died of his injuries. Thank you Steve for your bravery and strength and devotion to the community's safety. Read more here about this and how you can support the family he left behind. And thank you Captain Keith here in the 'hood for updating our neighborhood discussion board about Solomon's condition over the past week, and bringing him closer to us that way. Because you cared enough to communicate, Steve was in our hearts and thoughts and prayers all the while.

Fall Festival

Or, keeping with the multimedia fest of this one entry alone, check-out one of my archived podcasts about political corruption and big bad telcos here. Wait 'til those folks at BellSouth/AT&T control the Internet! Blog while you can, before they shut the whole thing down, is my advice you never asked for.

Who Yo Enemy Be, Bitch?

Also, yesterday's post was cleaned-up for public consumption here.
One other thing and I'll let you go... TrueGritz is rumored to be back in the biz sometime today. 'Bout time too. Talk about some lazy-ass white hoes.
